The refurbished baseball complex at Basilone Memorial Field in Bridgewater was the host for its first game when Bridgewater-Raritan High School opened the 2026 season on Wednesday, April 1. Among the featured additions were the bleachers and netting behind home plate, as well as the dugouts on both the first- and third-base sides. The facelift was part of the Referendum 2023 in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District. Barry Walker, a member of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District Board of Education, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Bridgewater-Raritan, the 2024 Group 4 state champion, started the season on its renovated field with a 9-4 victory over Rancocas Valley High School.
This first session on the Bridgewater-Raritan High School campus followed the team’s visit to the New York Jets Training Facility on Wednesday, March 18, in Florham Park. The New York Jets Launch Event Clinic on that day attracted the 18 high schools, including Bridgewater-Raritan, that play Unified Flag Football in New Jersey.
Bridgewater-Raritan’s Unified Flag Football Team will practice again on Monday, April 6, on campus after school, when the squad will prepare for the season–and first-ever— opener on Thursday, April 9, at West Morris Central High School in Chester. Bridgewater-Raritan’s home opener will be played on Monday, April 27, against Voorhees High School.

In the preliminary round, Matthew McCann, the 13th seed at 165 pounds, decisioned 20th-seeded Gino Gorga of Ramapo High School, 4-1, and his Bridgewater-Raritan teammate, Trent Levash, the No. 7 seed at 285 pounds, defeated 20th-seeded Antony DeSimone of North Hunterdon Regional High School, 9-5. Both advanced to the pre-quarterfinal round that will be held later on Thursday, March 12. The third Bridgewater-Raritan wrestler, Andrew Adell, the No. 28 seed at 113 pounds, was defeated by fifth-seeded Ryan Blewett of Middletown High School North, 9-0. Adell will wrestle in the first round of wrestleback consolations later on Thursday, March 12. The State tournament will continue on Friday, March 13, and conclude on Saturday, March 14.
Students and staff were greeted, and motorists were treated. The message board that stands in front of Bridgewater-Raritan High School on Garretson Road in Bridgewater proudly flashed on Tuesday, March 10, the photo of the high school’s ice hockey team celebrating on the ice at the Prudential Center in Newark the previous day.
On the historic day of Monday, March 9, Bridgewater-Raritan won the ice hockey program’s first state championship when it defeated Ridgewood High School, 2-0, in the Public title game.

Stanley Xenakis scored both goals as Bridgewater-Raritan ended this historical season with a 23-3-1 record. Ridgewood ended 21-5.
The game marked the fourth time Bridgewater-Raritan appeared in an ice hockey state championship game; its previous trip came in 2014.
And Bridgewater-Raritan High School will seek to become the king of New Jersey in ice hockey when it plays Ridgewood High School today, Monday, March 9, for the Public state championship.
The game will start at 3:15 p.m. at the Prudential Center in Newark.
The bus carrying the players and coaches, as well as reporters, left from behind the high school at 1:10 this afternoon and followed a Bridgewater Township Police cruiser and a Somerset County Sheriff’s vehicle while students and staff cheered their departure to Newark.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School will play for an ice hockey state championship. Bridgewater-Raritan, ranked 11th in the state, defeated 18th-ranked Middletown High School North, 5-2, in the South Public state sectional final on Thursday, March 5, at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morris Township. Bridgewater-Raritan will meet the North sectional winner, 13th-ranked Ridgewood High School, in the Public state championship game on Monday, March 9, at 3:15 p.m. at the Prudential Center in Newark. Bridgewater-Raritan improved to 22-3-1, and Middletown North fell to 15-7-2.
The Bridgewater-Raritan High School's Unified Basketball Team's state tournament sectional quarterfinal game with Sparta High School has been postponed until Thursday, March 5, at 3:45 p.m. in the high school's main gym. The game was scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, but Sparta had no school due to snow.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s top-seeded ice hockey team shut out fourth-seeded Ridge High School, 5 -0, in the South, Public state sectional semifinals on March 2 in Bridgewater.
Kyle Murphy, who guided Bridgewater-Raritan High School’s wrestling team to a second straight North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 state sectional championship this winter, was named District 14 Coach of the Year on Saturday, February 28, during the District 14 tournament at South Plainfield High School. Coach Murphy led his team to a 20-9 record this year and will have seven wrestlers compete in Region 4 on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, at Union High School. He was joined in the District 14 ceremony by assistant coaches Kevin McCann, Sammy Alvarez, Ray Jazikoff and Rob Saum.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School swept the boys' and girls' Group A state swim championships on Wednesday morning, February 25, at the Neptune Aquatic Center. The top-ranked Bridgewater-Raritan boys' team defeated fourth-ranked Hillsborough High School, 108-62, and, at the same time, during the double dual, the third-ranked Bridgewater-Raritan girls' squad cruised past 10th-ranked Cherry Hill High School, 102.5-67.5.
The state swim championships have been moved yet again due to the snow. The NJSIAA announced that all eight state swimming championship meets, including the Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys' and girls' Group A finals, will be held on Wednesday, February 25, at the Neptune Aquatic Center. The Bridgewater-Raritan boys' and girls' Group A state championships will be decided in a double dual starting at 8:30 a.m. Bridgewater-Raritan will swim against Hillsborough High School in the boys' Group A state final, and the Bridgewater-Raritan girls will go against Cherry Hill High School East in the Group A state championship meet. The state finals were initially scheduled for Sunday, February 22, at Rutgers University and then shifted to Thursday, February 26, at the Neptune Aquatic Center. Bridgewater-Raritan High School's bid to return to the Group 5 state wrestling tournament final was thwarted when Old Bridge High School rallied to pull out a 37-30 victory in the Group 5 state semifinal on Friday night, February 20, in Old Bridge. Bridgewater-Raritan just repeated as the NorthJersey, Section 2, Group 5 state sectional champion when it defeated Union High School, 33-29, in the sectional title match on Wednesday, February 18. Bridgewater-Raritan fell in the 2025 Group 5 state final to Southern Regional High School, which will now seek its fourth straight Group 5 state title against Old Bridge on Sunday, February 22, at Rutgers University. Bridgewater-Raritan ended its season with a 20-9 record
Due to the impending snowstorm, the NJSIAA announced on Friday, February 20, that the Bridgewater-Raritan High School boys' and girls' swim teams will compete in a double dual at 9 a.m., when the Group A state championship meets are held Sunday, February 22, at Rutgers University.
The second-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan High School ice hockey team repeated as the Skyland Cup champion when it edged the top-seeded North Hunterdon/Voorhees High School team, 6-5, in overtime on Wednesday, February 18.in Bridgewater. Senior captain and forward Alex Kotelnikov scored the winning goal with 11:26 left in OT.
Top-seeded Bridgewater-Raritan High School's wrestling team successfully defended its North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 state sectional championship when it defeated second-seeded Union High School, 33-29, on Wednesday, February 18, at Vaughn Stapleton Gymnasium in Bridgewater. Bridgewater-Raritan will wrestle Old Bridge High School in the Group 5 state semifinals on Friday, February 20, in Old Bridge. The winner will meet the survivor of the other Group 5 state semifinal between Southern Regional, the defending champion, and Passaic County Technical Institute, in the state championship match on Sunday, February 22, at Rutgers University. The title match is scheduled for 12 noon.
Bridgewater-Raritan High School's boys' swim team, ranked No. 1 in New Jersey, is one victory away from winning the Group A state championship. Bridgewater-Raritan defeated Ridgewood High School, 130-40, in the Group A state semifinals on Wednesday, February 18, at Passaic County Technical Institute in Wayne. Bridgewater-Raritan will meet Somerset County rival Hillsborough High School in the Group A state final on Sunday, February 22, at 9 a.m. at Rutgers University. Bridgewater-Raritan had defeated Hillsborough, 105-65, on January 13.
