Rain did not stop the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District community from participating in the fourth annual Andi’s Team 5K Walk & Run on Sunday, October 11.
Duke Island Park in Bridgewater was the venue for an estimated 300 people who ran or walked in this heartwarming charity event during rainy conditions.
Andi is a 7-year-old 2nd Grade student at the Van Holten Primary School, who has been diagnosed with ataxia-telangiectasia (A-T). Andi’s Team 5K Walk & Run raises funds for A-T research.
Andi’s mother, Lauren Young, a former employee in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District, including as a nurse at the John F. Kennedy Primary School, was thrilled with the outpouring of support.
“Our family is both stunned and grateful for the huge surge in support we received this year- having over 300 people come out in the rain to the event and raising over $72,000 has us feeling so thankful and loved,” Ms. Young revealed.
She added
“The progress in A-T research has given us hope for a better future for Andi and we cannot thank everyone enough who is working towards that goal alongside us!”
