The 4th Grade choir students at the John F. Kennedy Primary School left an unforgettable impression.
These students, who are guided by the energetic and devoted JFK Music Teacher, Jimmy Cicchino, delivered a unique experience when they performed on Friday, April 4.
The 4th Grade Chorus Concert that day at JFK not only provided sound singing but also a memorable atmosphere.
Mr. Cicchino explained this special concert.
“This concert was an exciting musical adventure and challenge for our 4th Graders Graders at John F. Kennedy Primary School,” Mr. Cicchino said. “They created a soundscape of jungles, rainforests, animals, plants, and nature through the use of singing, percussion, homemade instruments, body percussion, sound effects, layered parts, and artwork.”
He continued to share the reason behind this performance.
“When planning this program, it occurred to me that this was the first group I have taught for all five of their years at JFK. This being said, I wanted to make it a unique experience, so we collected recycled materials to serve as drums, rhythm sticks, and shakers. Students even created animal and jungle-themed artwork to decorate homemade shakers.”
Mr. Cicchino also revealed:
“These recycled instruments were a call back to our first year together at JFK, and how despite the challenges and restrictions we faced during a global pandemic, we were determined to make music, learn about the art form, and enjoy songs together.”
He concluded:
“I firmly believe in the old adage: "Never forget where you came from", and this was a reference to that message.”
