Ana Syed was determined to show off her hometown of the Borough of Raritan.
And what better place to display and boast her devotion than at the school she once attended—the John F. Kennedy Primary School.
So Syed and her fellow students in the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) at Bridgewater-Raritan High School descended to the JFK Primary School, which is located in Raritan.
There, in the hallway leading to the school’s gymnasium, Syed and seven of her NAHS members have met every Tuesday after school since October to paint a mural of a map of Raritan.
Syed was the designer who was sparked by her former mentor, Claudia Browne, who remains the Arts Teacher at JFK.
“I went to school here and had Ms. Browne. She inspired me, and it was great working with her,” Syed said. “
Her design of Raritan also received plenty of guidance from her current Arts Teacher, Sarah Nassan, the high school’s Advisor to the NAHS and resident of Raritan.
“Ms. Nassan helped with the design of the buildings downtown since she lives there,” Syed said.
The artwork was completed on Tuesday, January 22.
“We have been coming here since October,” said Ms. Nassan with a pleased expression while looking over the finished product.
Here are the National Art Honor Society artists from Bridgewater-Raritan High School who crafted this fine painting.
