Andi run

The course was jammed with runners of all ages and they ran for one goal—-to raise funds for medical research.

The 2nd Annual Andi’s Team 5K race was run on Sunday, October 6, at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater.

Under sunny skies, smiling faces totaled an estimated 260 adults and 95 kids, with a high percentage of families from the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District.

Lauren Young, who served as a substitute nurse in the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District and then held the position of the Nurse at the John F. Kennedy Primary School before she retired, was the event’s coordinator.

She explained the cause of this race.

The 2nd annual Andi's Team 5K was an enormous success! About $35,000 was raised for medical research for A-T (ataxia-telangiectasia),” Ms. Young revealed.

Ms. Young has two students in the school district.

Andi is a Kindergarten student at the Van Holten Primary School and another daughter, Brynn, is a Pre-K student at the Milltown Primary School.

She reported on why the event attracted a good amount of runners.

“This event has grown from last year and has something for everyone: a timed 5K for the serious runners, a kids fun run for our younger participants, a hair braiding station, an ice cream truck, a ball pit for the little ones, and more!”

Ms. Young is confident that the field will grow and another successful race will be held next fall.

“We thank each person who supported our cause and can't wait to see you all back in 2025!"
