Update - COVID-19 - Day 8 - Reality, not Fiction - 3/25/2020

Update - COVID-19 - Day 8 - Reality, not Fiction - 3/25/2020

Members of the B-R Community,

Last night, the Board of Education held its first online Board meeting. My Superintendent Report is posted on our website here. It includes three important updates, including a response to the questions regarding the school district’s process for sharing medical information.

Next week will be our third week of Distance Learning. We continue to operate under the Governor’s Executive Order. All buildings will continue to be closed, all activities canceled, and instruction and assessment will continue on our Distance Learning platform. This will take us through Friday, April 3, 2020.

Further, we will be closed for Spring Break (April 6-13, 2020) as originally scheduled.  Our online platform will be open for families to use during this time. Teachers will not be updating lessons or responding to email over the break, but class resources will remain available for families to access. Students and families do not have to send in attendance over the break.

The reality of our current situation is almost hard to believe. In fiction, we can watch from a distance the protagonist grapple with impossible odds, but in this reality, we are the ones who have to act. We need to keep our district together. We need to keep our students focused on their learning. Success in our reality, more than ever, requires collective action. Thank you for acting with us.

Reminders for Day 9:

  • Spirit Week:  Share your pictures and videos with your teachers or classmates and if you are comfortable, post them on Twitter with the hashtag: #BRingonthespirit. All posts with this hashtag will be posted here on our Distance Learning page for everyone to enjoy.
  • We are encouraging everyone at home during this distance learning to participate: students, staff, families, alumni, parents of alumni, and members of the larger BRRSD community.
    • Thursday - Fun Dance Day
      • Show off your moves
        • Share a video with a fun dance
        • Include family members
        • Extra points if you can connect it to something you are learning in class
    • Friday - Crazy Hair and Hat Day
      • Share your unique side
        • Share your craziest hairstyles
        • Wear your favorite hat
  • Make it fun. Be creative. Remember that you are celebrating our community, which means you are representing our district. Please keep all posts appropriate for school and representative of B-R.
  • We are in this together. Do your best and follow your teachers.  They know the way...
  • All resources can be found on our Distance Learning webpage.
  • Attendance must be submitted each day by 10 a.m. with our Attendance Form.
    • Remember to log in to Chrome as each student.
  • For Tech Support, email: DLDtech@brrsd.k12.nj.us.

Stay safe and BRing on the dancing,
